A collection of hand appliqué linen window or wall flags inspired by the relationship between dwelling, sea and land shapes found on Fair Isle, Scotland in the recent two-part BBC documentary.

'Seated man' 90cm x 100cm and 'Male Classical' 123cm x 88cm are colour studies of two of Willem de Kooning's 1940s oil painted portraits. They comprise of painted linens and cottons and are lined with 100% cotton batting. The quilt stitches describe the charcoal like lines present in the paintings.
'Duck rabbit' is inspired by a sketch of woman in the sun by Pierre Bonnard and the clothes in Rohmer's 1983 film 'Pauline at the Beach'. Linens, vintage ticking and a flint of hand painted cotton for the polka dots. Lined with 100% cotton batting. 200cm x 170cm

Made up of hand painted linens, vintage woven wool and bright sea directions of French shirting cotton, this collection of works is inspired by St Ives, the sea and W.S.Graham's poem 'The Nightfishing'.
(i) 'and waves us loose' After looking at John Piper's 1930s collages, this composition is based on a memory of a bay in St Ives with appliqued triangles and vertical lines to describe the sea. 110cm x 140cm
(ii) 'bright hemisphere unprised ancient overhead' Made up of hand painted linens, French shirting cotton sea and acid yellow painted sunshine, this piece is entirely appliqued, quilted and finished by hand. A vivid red linen backs this quilt and along with a stormy painted cloud and sunshine comes round to the front to edge the quilt. hand quilted weather stitches are just beginning to rain on this rock pool scene, the sandcastle shape on the right collapses slowly. 133cm x 142cm
(iii) 'likely a full gale unwinding it' Hand painted linen with a French shirting cotton suggestion of sky. A windy grassy moor... a peaceful little dwelling, a distant watercolour aeroplane flies by. Backed with a dark green dyed linen. 105cm x 140cm
A collection of linen quilts and wall hangings with wool and indigo-dyed cotton lined with a 50% cotton/ 50% bamboo inner. Sashiko stitches along the natural crease lines of the different fabrics create a beautiful network of lines and crosses that bind the three layers of the quilts together. Inspired by Lygia Pape 1950s woodcut prints and the black, blue and white textile designs of Sonia Delaunay.
The large quilts in this series are double sided and playing with folding the quilt on a bed can reveal different compositional stories.
Collection of cotton, linen and Yorkshire wool tableware. All hand quilted and hand finished, and lined with 100% cotton batting. When placed in a particular order, this collection of table mats reveals a drawing of a snowstorm. Thick white cotton stitches flurry and drift through the collection. Take one as a piece of the storm, or use all together to protect the table from hot pots of a wintery feast.
